I pray that as you read this post, the Spirit of God meets you right where you are. May your heart be open to the message within, and may the Lord reveal to you the undeniable evidence of His living hope in your life.
Over the past few weeks, our church has been diving into a sermon series titled “A Living Hope.” What began as another Sunday message quickly unraveled into something much deeper for me—a wave of personal reflection, conviction, and confirmation of God’s ongoing presence in my life.
After the very first sermon, I found myself applying the message’s principles immediately. It felt natural and comfortable, like a light turning on in a dim room.
Each Sunday, I bring with me a red notebook—my faithful companion, filled with Scriptures, devotionals, sermon notes, and personal prayers. But this journey didn’t start with the red notebook. In 2020, I purchased a simple blue one. My hope then (same as it is now) was that everything written within it would someday be shared with those around me—friends, family, maybe even strangers.
This week, I flipped through those old pages in the blue notebook, hoping to shine that dim light a little brighter. Page after page, line after line, I saw answered prayers. Prayers for loved ones facing illness. Prayers for clarity in moments of confusion. Prayers for peace in the middle of suffering. Prayers for travel, for strength, for healing, for restoration. And almost every one had been answered. The overwhelming truth was this: God heard. And God responded.
As I reflected, one verse came alive in my heart:
“So that the proven character of your faith—more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” —1 Peter 1:7 (CSB)
What a powerful reminder that our faith, tested and tried, becomes a living testimony—more precious than gold—when it’s refined by God’s hand. Each answered prayer in that notebook was a spark in the fire of my faith. Not one moment was wasted. Every season had purpose. And the result? Living hope.
In today’s world, it’s so easy to feel stuck—to believe that your pain is permanent, or that joy is always just out of reach. But when you carry the living hope of Jesus Christ, everything changes.
That hope breathes life into dead places. It gives meaning to suffering. It roots us in something eternal, unshakeable, and holy.
This hope is not just a feeling. It’s a Person. Jesus Christ—the risen Savior—is our Living Hope (1 Peter 1:3). He conquered death so that we could live, not merely exist.
So, I encourage you: take time to reflect. Look through the “pages” of your life. Search for your own evidence of hope. I promise—it’s there. God is not absent. He is active, faithful, and near.
Live in the Living Hope. Never stop sharing it.
A Prayer for Living Hope Heavenly Father, Thank You for being our Living Hope in every season. Open our eyes to see Your faithfulness in every aspect of our lives. Help us to remember Your goodness, even in the fire, and to trust that You are refining us for Your glory. Strengthen our faith, anchor our hope in Christ, and lead us to share that hope with a world in need. In Your holy and gracious name, Amen.
