Serving Those Outside of Our Walls

Through the years, Christ Lutheran's Outreach Ministry has helped thousands in our community through both partner agencies and ministries within the church. We've built houses with Habitat for Humanity, raised money to feed the hungry during Charlotte's annual CROP Walk, helped struggling local families through Crisis Assistance, and housed the homeless through Room in the Inn. Ministries within Christ Lutheran that serve the community (and beyond) include Quilters for Christ, Alternative Gift Market (AGM) and many more.

McCLINTOCK PARTNERS IN EDUCATION (McPIE)

McPIE, Christ Lutheran’s largest outreach ministry, was formed in 2007 after our church adopted at-risk McClintock Middle School. A partnership between the church, community and school, McPIE’s mission is to ensure that McClintock students have access to the support, opportunities and resources they need to provide them with a quality education for future success in life.

One of the main ways we do this is through Family Nights. Every Tuesday during the school year, we host dinner, middle school clubs and programming for the whole family at McClintock Middle School.

Volunteers are especially needed during Freedom School to help as reading buddies, field trip chaperones and enrichment activity leaders.

ROOM IN THE INN

Christ Lutheran Church’s Providence campus has been a long-time host site for A Roof Above's Room in the Inn program. We host ten guests each Thursday evening from beginning of December through end of March. We serve dinner, offer showers and a room with cot and mattress, serve breakfast, provide bagged lunch, and return uptown early on Friday morning. We have volunteer opportunities for setup, lunches, breakfast items, van drivers, and overnight hosts (please consider this role, we need the help).
