What If ... ?

What If ... ?

- June 4, 2019

Spend a moment with me imagining what if… What if we had the opportunity to change lives? What if we were given the chance to actually live out the Gospel? What if we could build disciples and teach about the amazing things Jesus is doing? What if droves of people looking for the Good News came walking through our doors? What if hundreds of strangers came to our church wanting to know about this guy named Jesus? What if hundreds of people were banging on our doors wanting a life changing, incredible, faith-filled, non-stop week centered on the cross? If this were true, it would be an awesome opportunity! It would be a privilege that God would think that we could handle such an amazing and big job! But normally we get just a hand full of visitors each week. People don’t normally line up to enter our doors. But they’re coming!!!! Next week we have 270 kids registered for Vacation Bible School at the Providence Campus, that’s 50 more than last year! Out of these 270 kids, 55% or 150 kids are not members. These are friends; these are family members; these are neighbors; these are people who drove by and happened to see our sign. Their parents are blessing us with the privilege of sharing the Gospel with these wonderful kids. This isn’t just a playtime for kids; they want to know more about Jesus. The parents could send their children to any camp, but they chose us. So, this is our opportunity to shine, and we need you! You might be saying, “This is just for young people! I’m not gifted to work with kids? I work and can’t be there during the week?” We do need you! There is a lot to prepare for all our new and old friends for VBS. We have decorating, prepping to get done, teaching materials need to be sorted, games, crafts--all kinds of materials need to get readied for Monday morning. Then, next week we need adult leaders to chaperone kids through all the stations! If next week won’t work for you to volunteer, we have VBS at Christ South on June 24-28. You might be saying, Pastor Melody, VBS is not my thing. That’s ok. God is still sending us out into the mission field and wants us. Christ South could use people with set up. You could be on the Welcome Team at Christ Providence. Christ Concord could use some more musicians and tech people. God doesn’t need you -- God wants you!! Matthew 9:35-38 New International Version (NIV) 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” If you can use your gifts here at VBS at Christ Providence or Christ South or doing any of the hundreds of tasks that need to get done, let me know!
