On Your Own: Neighborhood Clothing Drive

As part of our community outreach initiative, we encourage you to gather clothing donations from your neighbors, friends, or co-workers to support Crisis Assistance. Your generosity can make a significant impact on those in need. Once you have collected the items, please drop off the donations at the Outreach center located at the church. Look for the designated blue bin where you can place your donations. Your contributions will truly make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for your support and kindness in helping those facing crises. Sign up here so we know how many folks are helping out! Drop off by August 8th!

On Your Own: Neighborhood Prayer Walk

In Your Neighborhood

Organizing a neighborhood prayer walk is a wonderful way to bring together your community in prayer. As you walk through the streets, you can lift up prayers for your neighbors, the local community, and even global issues. This activity is not only a powerful way to connect with God but also a great opportunity to involve children and teach them about the importance of prayer. Encourage them to pray for specific needs they see around them. After the prayer walk, send an email to Angela Davis, compiling all the intentions and requests that were lifted up during the walk. This can help to continue the spirit of unity and prayer within your neighborhood long after the walk has ended. By sharing these prayers, you are not only strengthening the bonds within your community but also spreading love and positivity to those who may need it most. This walk can be anytime during the week of August 1st!

Choose a location such as a stream, park, playground, or road-side that could benefit from some sprucing up. Encourage participants to take before and after pictures to showcase the transformation and inspire others to get involved in similar initiatives. By working together to clean up and beautify shared spaces, you can foster a sense of pride and unity among residents while making a tangible difference in the environment.

On Your Own: New Teacher Boxes

Dropoff: Outreach Office

Join us in spreading kindness and support to the new teachers at McClintock Middle School by creating teacher boxes filled with essential supplies. Items like gum, hand sanitizer, tissues, lotion, dry erase markers, sticky notes, and inspirational cards can make a big difference. Include wipes, nice pens, mechanical pencils, a Tide stick, room spray, and even a gift card for an extra special touch. Let’s come together to show our appreciation for these educators and help them start the school year with everything they need. Don’t forget to drop off the filled boxes at the Outreach office by August 20th!

Have a Smartphone? Come help the library scan books from our collection into our online library! We are in the process of getting all of our titles online for parishioners to peruse so that they can choose books to borrow and come to the library to check them out. Help us get them all uploaded to the site by using your smartphone to scan them in. We will help you get started. Join us on Wednesday, August 5th and Wednesday, August 12th from 10:30 to 12:30.

Hunger Fight Meal-Packing Event

Join us at the Hunger Fight Meal Packaging Event where we will be packaging 25,000 meals for our local community. A light lunch will be provided for all participants, making it a great family event where you can work alongside your children in this service project. Additionally, we will also receive 1000 books for children in the community, which will be distributed by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County.

Meals On Wheels for Nourish Up

Nourish Up’s Meals on Wheels program is looking for volunteers to help deliver daily nutritious meals to homebound neighbors in Mecklenburg County. Shifts will run from August 10-14 starting at 10:30 a.m. Depending on the size of your route, shifts can last for 60-90 minutes. Register for more information and instructions for sharing your availability on these dates.

Out of the Ashes is an organization that empowers the community to compassionately embrace those who are grieving the loss of a pregnancy, infant, or fertility with the love of Christ as a foundation for healing. Christ Lutheran will be hosting a dinner and a worship service to remember and honor those lost. Those that have experienced loss or want to show their support are welcome to attend. Dinner will be served from 6:00–7:00 p.m. and worship from 7:00–8:00 p.m.
