Stepping StonesThe Mission: To partner with parents to fulfill their baptismal promises.
The Method: As a family walking in the waters of our baptism, we have Stepping Stones in the River of Life that guide us on our journey of becoming more like Jesus Christ. With each stone we equip families with opportunities to learn together. Families are encouraged in worship by publicly blessing each other and we empower families with tools to continue their faith journey at home.
![]() Equip: These events are for parent and youth to attend together and will explore the changing relationships as we move through the teenage years towards young adulthood.
Encourage: Youth are presented with a Quillow at a special graduation service where they are blessed by their parents and the congregation.
Empower: Take home materials are presented at each event and are also available in the Beacon Bookstore.
The High School Stepping Stone
is called ‘Quillow Sunday’.
Students & their family will journey
together through events towards
the Stepping Stone Celebration
in their 12th grade year.
God’s Best: This event brings students and their parents together to talk about how we can give God our best in the midst of the challenges of high school and the new found responsibilities given to us in regards to a driver’s license, a job and looking forward to life after high school.
Many have said that this class was vital in helping their family through the difficult teenage years!
Telling the Story: Life after high school can be one of the most
challenging times for our faith! This event provides students and their parents a time for honest questions about faith and for building a firm foundation for faith that will stand against the storms of this world.
![]() What is a Quillow?
A Quillow is a quilt that folds up into a pillow. (Quilt + Pillow = Quillow)
These are made by the student’s parents or a caring adult and given at Quillow Sunday to remind the students that as they leave home and go out into the world, they do not go alone. They are wrapped in the love of God, their family, and of all of us here at Christ Lutheran Church.
